aff queen and i

Preparations for the visit of Queen Elizabeth The Second to Ireland gather yet more farcical pace.
Driving through Dublin, I espy groups of police officers with crow bars at various road intersections.
What on earth are they doing?
And lo!
There's more of them at the next junction.
And still more at the next.
Could it be Council road workers?
I take a careful gander.
Definitely cops.
The same thuggish bored disinterested arrogant expressions as Council workers but actually wearing overalls labelled An Garda Siochana.
Guardians of the Peace indeed.
Known colloquially as The Nyards.
But I digress.
Some of the nyards appear to have prised loose man hole covers.
They are peering blankly into the open drains.
The Irish Police Force at their finest.
I have no idea what this all means until my source in The Keystone Cops phones me.
The explanation is quite simple.
The cops are checking every manhole cover in Dublin in case Al Qaeda have left bombs there in order to blow up aff queen.
Now get this.
They're not rounding up Al Qaeda members.
Al Qaeda black jacket street thugs are still patrolling Grafton Street and the city centre in overwhelming numbers.
They are the new power in the city of Dublin.
And the Keystone Cops are dealing with them by meditating on the contents of sewer drains.
The irony... is screaming.

bleak heart

a child stands in a field above the town
he does not know what the years will bring
dark night touches him and the rain
his spirit leaps in his imagining

a man writes at table in the dark
he wonders of all things what we are
spirits creatures matter worse
pitched forth comets about a dying star

tell me if all time is one time
and what is was and will be
was the boy already corrupt as he looked upon the town
am i already dead as i write

how corrupt is the irish police force

The Irish Police force continues its romantic plans to make Kilcullen a mini dictatorship during Queen Elizabeth The Second's two minute drive through next Thursday.
Cops are intruding into people's homes demanding to know who is in residence and where exactly they will be during Lizzer's visit.
You couldn't make it up.
Meanwhile my neighbour Montie Baines has been burgled twice in the last week.
The hoods roughed him up a bit on the second occasion.
The cops, so talented at protecting the Queen Of England from non existent threats, have failed to arrest or detain or interview anyone in connection with these repeated attacks upon an old man in his home, on Main Street in the full light of day.
My neighbour has, out of fear for his safety, moved to live with his sister in Wicklow.
