lines written after the funeral of barry jordan a young man taken early

on a day dull with tragedy
when sadness flows like tears
who are you bold reader
what dull day is yours
if i could i'd touch you
though nothing now appears
of what i was or wished to be
from my dead place in the years
vivat jesu domini

our lives seemed but a breath among
tangled fields and ancient river
careless eden of the young
there i thought to live forever
fighting loving being afraid
living laughing melodies
hold my hand the vision dies
this tear is all that's left of me
vivat jesu domini
